The Music Man.The audience was wowed by the singing and dancing performed by this year's players.     The Music Man came to McVey!     McVey's Graduating Class of 2018 showing love and support for healthy hearts during the Jump Rope for Heart school-wide fundraiser event.     MMcVey students in every grade headed to the gym during their specials periods to jump rope, twirl hula hoops and participate in other jumping activities for the American Heart Association.     McVey Earth Savers Club was visited by Ms. Sharon, from SPLASH, to help members get smarter about the effects of water pollution and what they can do to help.    The Earth Savers members and moderators are thankful to Ms. Sharon for sharing what her SPLASH organization is doing to help decrease pollution in our area's oceans, bays, and waterways.     Mrs. Viscuso's 1st graders displaying their Groundhog Day predictions they had created in the computer lab.     Will I see my shadow? asked the groundhog. Ms. Messiano's 1st graders made their predictions using technology.     Will I see my shadow? asked the groundhog. Mrs. Cusano's 1st graders made their predictions using technology.     Will I see my shadow? asked the groundhog. Mrs. Hanovic's 1st graders made their predictions using technology.     Will I see my shadow? asked the groundhog. Mrs. Davico's 1st graders made their predictions using technology.     The Earth Savers Club members researching important environment issues for the projects they are making to promote environmental awareness at McVey.    Through their research the Earth Savers are learning that there are many different environmental issues occurring each and every day.      Earth Savers are discovering that environmental issues can be found on the land, in the water, and in the air, along with how they as a school community can help.     On Wednesday, January 10, McVey held its annual Spelling Bee Competition.  We had so many great participants and the contest lasted several rounds.     The final contestants still standing after the last round was 4th grader Michelle Hand in first place and 4th grader Trevor Nguyen as the runner-up. Congratulations to both students!     Winners all! Congratulations to all the student council candidates for stepping up and getting involved in our election process.    Safety Patrol Installation 2017-2018 - Principal Dunne leads the Safety Patrol inductees in their pledge on a streaming live broadcast of the morning announcements.     Our proud safety patrol monitors, with their moderators - Ms. Cohen and Mrs. Jalfin.    Mrs. McCready's third graders after a brisk walk to show support for wellness, health and a drug-free lifestyle at the McVey Annual Wellness Walk!    Taking steps to better health at the McVey Annual Wellness Walk!    On Sept 20, 2017, the first “Mighty Mind Show” live streaming broadcast was launched!    Fourth grader, Serafina Mazza, was our first Mighty Mind Show live broadcast guest!      The Christine Sklarsky Literacy Center at McVey.Harmony Pond, and its surrounding courtyard area, is a self-sustaining ecological environment.
