The Christine Sklarsky Literacy Center
Located in room 213, McVey’s leveled bookroom, named the Christine Sklarsky Literacy Center on June 18, 2009, in honor of the very dedicated McVey reading specialist, is a centralized collection of books that promotes shared and guided reading instruction, literature study, independent reading within the literacy block and home reading. It was created so that our teachers could have access to thousands of books to use in their classrooms with their students. It also serves as a conference room for our teachers to engage in a variety of literacy-related professional development opportunities.
Resources such as leveled reader sets, big books, strategy read alouds, 6+1 trait read alouds, professional resources, and many more can be found here. Our website offers inventory lists for all the resources that can be found at the Christine Sklarsky Literacy Center to help you while planning lessons and units.
