A World of Difference - Will meet periodically to discuss what the school can do to be tolerant of diversity. Students will
help with the planning of Human Dignity programs.
*Best Pals Club - Meets twice a month. The goal is to create opportunities
for one-to-one friendships between 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Some of the planned activities for the upcoming year
are arts and crafts, cooking and playing games.
*Builders Club - A student-led service club to develop leadership through service to
the school and community. This club is jointly sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.
*Chamber Orchestra - A special musical ensemble
for string students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades by audition only. Special performances will be scheduled during the school year. This ensemble will explore more challenging orchestral material.
*Clarke Literary Magazine - Join the Literary Magazine and join the
fun and excitement. Be part of the staff that creates a year-end issue of student stories and poetry!

*Club S.L.I.M.E. - (Service Learning In Motion
Everywhere) Students involved in service learning will be able to give back to the community through service projects that they
devise themselves.
*Computer Club - The Computer Club provides students with opportunities to enrich and extend their skills with new
forms of technology. In addition, the Computer Club tries to perform service learning whenever possible.
*The Clarke Courier -
The Courier is the Clarke Middle School Newspaper. Areas you can work include: writing articles, interviewing, proofreading,
layouts and graphics.
*Drama Club - The musical club meets 2 - 3 times per week and performs one full length musical each spring. All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students, regardless of past experience, are invited to audition. In addition to performers, the
directors need costume assistants, stagehands, and sound and lighting staff.
*Executive Penny Harvest Club - This club welcomes
students who are interested in helping to plan, organize and run Clarke’s Penny Harvest. It will involve decision-making and
community and world awareness. Students who would like to have a leadership role in service learning and take an active part
in deciding which organizations we will donate to will find this club exciting, fun and full of involvement. Each member
“Will Make A Difference” in our community, our country and the world. “It all starts with just one penny.”
*Garden Club - The
Garden Club is dedicated to beautifying our school. Our club plants flowers, maintains the Garden at the front of the building
and participates in other service activities.
*G.O. (Student Government) - Clarke Middle School’s student government structure
is comprised of representatives from each advisory and officers elected by the student body. All students are encouraged to
become members of the student government and participate through their representatives.
*Homework Helpers - The Homework Helpers Club
provides peer tutoring for students who need help with homework. The club meets both before and after school and during lunch
periods. It is open to all grades. Students may sign up at any time to give and/or receive tutoring services.
International Language Club - International Language Club offers students of French, Italian and Spanish interesting opportunities
to practice the languages they are studying. Club members play games, sing songs, learn dances, cook foods, celebrate holidays
and go on field trips related to the foreign languages. Meetings are held twice a month.
*Jazz Ensemble - The Jazz Ensemble
is a select group of 6th, 7th and 8th graders that rehearse and perform as an extra-curricular activity. Rehearsals will take
place in the morning (before school). This group is available through audition.
* Kids in Clarke’s Kitchen - Children will
use their talents in cooking and home skills to create tasty foods and treats for our school and community organizations such as senior
groups, homeless shelters, and soup kitchens.
Junior Tri-M Music Honor Society - The Tri-M Music Honor Society is the international
music honor society for secondary school (middle/junior high and senior high) students that motivates and recognizes musical achievement. Founded in 1952 by Alexander and Frances Harley, the Tri-M Music Society has been providing years of service through music by
chartering more than 3000 senior and junior division chapters worldwide. In 1983, Tri-M became a program of MENC: The National
Association for Music Education. It is governed by the MENC National Executive Board and guided by the Council of Music Honor
Society Chairpersons. Students selected for The Tri-M Music Society will participate in an induction ceremony.
Mathletes -
7th and 8th grade students who enjoy mathematics and the challenge of solving non-routine problems will love Mathletes. Members
will meet for practice sessions and a minimum of 6 competitions. Students compete with grade-level peers throughout
Math Olympiads -
Any 6th grader can come and take math tests once a month, as part of a team contest. We have weekly practice meetings and practice
tests.
*Mural Club - Our club decorates the hallways, creates holiday paintings and designs large painted murals for walls
and hallways. Students may also work on their own. Students may sign up at any time.
National Junior Honor
Society - Our school has established a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society, open to 8th graders. Selection for this
esteemed group is based upon high academic achievement, school and community service, exemplary character, and faculty recommendation. Once selected, members of the Honor Society are required to maintain high scholastic averages and to participate in school and/or
community service activities. Students selected for National Junior Honor Society will participate in an induction ceremony.
*Online
Leaders - Volunteer to teach Clarke neighbors (senior citizens) computer skills. Senior citizens want to know more about computers
and the Internet. Who knows more than you! Earn credit towards “Presidential Student Service Award.”

Club - Learn the art of photography! Photography club members learn to take photographs with a digital
camera and improve them with the computer.
Physical Education Intramurals - Join the intramurals
to play such sports as basketball, volleyball, golf and tennis. Intramurals take place before school. Students can sign
up at any time.
Science Olympiads - A hands-on event competition against other middle schools held once a year in the
spring. A team of up to 15 students to participate in such events as bridge building, aerodynamics,
egg drop, and experimentation. Preparatory meetings will be held frequently during the school year.
Spirit Club -
Encourages positive energy and rigor at
Technology Club - Students will learn how to create graphics, create computer assisted drafting, learn video editing, learn how to run sound system in order to
help with the Clarke’s activities.
*Yearbook - Students design and set up our school yearbook. Activities include typing,
selling ads, artwork and photography.
