Welcome to Barnum Woods Elementary School.
Barnum Woods has always been the “hallmark” school of East Meadow. We are proud of our school as a place of high level learning with a staff of highly experienced professionals; as well as an actively involved PTA. Our dedicated staff always puts their best efforts forward to ensure that each child reaches their academic goals in a nurturing, safe, and healthy environment. Our Character Education Program, which everyone is now familiar with, is symbolized by a “head, heart, and hands logo”. The logo which is seen throughout the building helps remind children to make positive choices, treat others respectfully and look beyond themselves in their daily decision making. Time spent now in molding your child’s future, by setting standards and expectations, will make for a smoother journey towards their future. It is our responsibility to set the course, to instill the character values our school is setting forth and to teach our children to abide by the rules. Children are like sponges, they absorb everything around them – both positive and negative. As parents and teachers, we need to act as partners, backing each other up so education can be effective. Spending time with your child in conversation is critical – having a meaningful conversation with your child is priceless.
