Philosophy
Statement
The
primary mission of public education is to provide our young people with those
skills necessary to function effectively in society.
As
a school, our aims are not to indoctrinate children with a specific set of moral
values, but to provide children with the tools of inquiry so they can become,
on their own, more thoughtful, considerate, and responsible human beings.
We
believe that a person of good character demonstrates a respect for human
dignity, an active responsibility for the welfare of others, integrates
individual interests and social awareness, demonstrates integrity, displays
common sense principles when making choices and judgments, and seeks peaceful
resolution of conflict.
To
develop the character of our children in a complex and changing world is no
small task, but it is our intent to take up the challenge.
